John Rubey {IN MEMORIUM}

John and Spencer worked together when John was President of AEG NETWORK Live. At AEG, Rubey produced and oversaw music and media events around the world for Anschutz Entertainment Group’s powerful organizations. They they re-connected when John ran AMC, Regal and Cinemark’s Event cinema platform, Fathom Events, where Rubey was inaugural CEO doubling revenues and ticket sales on his watch.
John served as a consulting Producer to Spencer and Meteor 17 on the authorized, Paramount+ documentary: The Day The Music Died: The Story of Don McLean’s American Pie, from both a creative as well as in movie theater event lane. John, along with M17’s head of marketing and PR, Bethany Claypool, oversaw the exhibition of TDTMD doc for sister Viacom company, National Amusements Cinemas worldwide.
John had teamed up to work alongside Spencer to produce a weekly music venue centric streaming series which was developed where superstar actors who also wrote and produced music live events and concerts.
John also oversaw Rubey Entertainment as CEO. RE was the industry’s premier provider of live, digital, and 3D entertainment, offering fans unparalleled access to the artists they want—when and how they want it—via broadband, TV, radio, wireless, theatrical, and retail. Rubey Entertainment oversaw global cinema viewing parties for Riot Games League of Legends Worlds Finals with Lexis Partners. Rubey Entertainment completed successful tour and album launch campaigns for clients including: Katy Perry, Rascal Flatts, The Who, Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Prince, Linkin Park, Usher, Garth Brooks, Black Eye Peas, and many others. RE also produced and delivered branded entertainment to fans and home worldwide to include Global Poverty Project, and The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Rubey received his BS in Accounting & Economics from Regis University in Denver and MBA from the University of Houston. Rubey was a member of the Producer’s Guild of America, the Television Academy, the Telly Awards Silver Council, the Digital Cinema Society, Women in Exhibition, AICPA and other professional organizations. Rubey content has received more than sixty Telly awards, four Lumiere awards, two Hollywood 3D Film Festival awards, two Cine Golden Eagle Awards, one EPIX Performing Arts Special awards. Rubey also hosted the Event Cinema Association London Slate Day meetings in February 2018 and spent two years as a Board Director. Rubey also serves as Board Advisor to Infinity Festival and Heart of the Brain UCLA cancer research foundation.
