Sylvester Stewart was a pivotal influence on pop, rock, funk and music overall - from John Legend, Prince, Janet Jackson, to Miles Davis, Beyonce and many superstars in all media today.
Sly’s group, "Sly and The Family Stone" were the first integrated group with both colors and genders. Major artistes such as Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, to Eno, Herbie Hancock and more, were inspired and influenced by Sly and his group.
Proffer states, “This film will authenticate the gritty - yet sensitive struggle from a funk rock poet’s perspective, while navigating the explosive national, social and music culture (Woodstock and more) of those times.” Sly co-wrote the script.
We are currently in talks with hit makers Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis to produce new versions of some of Sly’s classic songs with current talent both musically and visually, for the screen and our soundtrack album.
The movie’s star, director as well as production and studio partner, have not been finally solidified. We believe the global appetite for definitive musical biopics is at an all-time high, and Sly’s story is a quintessential one of that era!
Our film, will have a strong social-cultural impact on the world. It also delves into Sly’s human side which fueled his creative vision, driving him to compose his most iconic universal anthems that helped to unite the world with classic songs such as “Everybody Is A Star” and “Everyday People,” cementing his transformative impact on global culture.
