International Marketing & Promotion, M17 & MPM Music Artists

Paddy and Spencer have been friends for years. They recently worked on an initiative to get original Paul McCartney content into an event night through Fathom at National Cinemedia Theaters via Spencer’s overall arrangement there. Paddy spearheads all international marketing and promotion enterprises for the M17 group of music artists.

Paddy Spinks formed Global Spins management and marketing company in 2001 following seven years as the head of International for Capitol Records. During the last seven years with Global Spins he has enjoyed one success after another ranging from the multi-platinum successes of EMI artists Norah Jones, Joss Stone to Concord Records’ Ray Charles posthumous release among many others. During this time Spinks acted as consultant to the EMI labels adding significant value to each projects success. Spinks also worked with Real World on the North American marketing of Peter Gabriel’s most recent album and tour ‘UP’.

Most recently Spinks worked with Paul McCartney and MPL overseeing the global marketing of several projects including the recent ‘Memory Almost Full’ album released by Starbucks’ Hear Music label which was nominated for three Grammys, the Rhino three DVD set ‘The McCartney Years’ and the 2005 release ‘Chaos and Creation in the Backyard’ album which received three Grammy nominations including album of the year and was met with great critical acclaim.

Joining Capitol Records in 1994 as head of International, Spinks was responsible for many successes for Capitol outside the US including gold and platinum acts such as The Beastie Boys, ‘Romeo and Juliet’ soundtrack, Crowded House and from catalog Dean Martin’s Hits package. He was also known for nurturing the careers of developing artists such as Spearhead, Sparklehorse, Dandy Warhols, and Shivaree, all of whom had their greatest success outside the US.

A native of the UK, Spinks began his career in Artist Management at EG Management in London working with such acts as Roxy Music, King Crimson, Brian Eno and Killing Joke before moving to New York to head up the North America office for the EG Group. While in New York, he joined Tony Smith’s Hit&Run Music to become President of the Hit&Run US Management company for 9 years. During that time, he worked with a diverse roster of artists including Genesis, Phil Collins, Julian Lennon, Mike and The Mechanics, Right Said Fred and The Escape Club and subsequently moved the business to Los Angeles. In this position Spinks was responsible for overseeing all the marketing and promotion initiatives of all the Hit&Run artists.
