Projects and Partners Foreign Exchange
FOREIGN EXCHANGE is an important world music and multicultural television series. It is born from the acclaimed CITIZENS OF THE WORLD enterprise which Spencer Proffer produced, bringing together major international artists to bridge cultures through music and live performance. Citizens of the World was profiled in a recent Wall St Journal feature. Foreign Exchange is an exciting and important, new unscripted TV program about young people using music to build bridges between cultures and to speak to the world about their future. As a group, they will work to overcome their own potential political, religious, and other tensions, living and traveling together for a good part of the series, and through music to build bridges between their perspectives. Their songs will be on behalf of the younger “Y” generation, urging world leaders, other generations, and their own to find ways to co-exist for the good of the future. Specifically, we are going to assemble a group of young, charismatic, emerging male and female singers from around the world who represent a variety of cultures and sometimes opposing points of views but who write and perform songs together with a message of world unity. We believe that such a group will be not only very timely, gathering a lot of talk on cable news especially as well as in print and on the internet, but also very resonant, especially for the “Y” generation, who, according to trends studies, show far more interest in the world than any generation before them. Two major music personalities (one timeless and one current) to serve as mentors to the emerging talent. The role of these stars for our show would be to provide mentorship and perspective to these young performers, both in their music and as they shape their messages. The appearances would be in the first and last episodes, as well as one more near the end. To be clear, this is not a show that seeks to take any one ideological position outside of unity: The goal is to show that people with many different ideologies can and must learn to co-exist for the good of all and, in particular, for the future of the next generation. Ideally, within the group are Americans of divergent backgrounds (red state/blue state), Christians and Muslims, rich and very poor, as well as people whose families or friends have been affected by world events. We believe that there will be strong visibility on a show that will have wide worldwide traction and appeal – with pure cross marketing opportunities on many levels. There will be many extensions emanating from our show, from live tours from our ultimate musical unit, merchandise and some Foreign Exchange music and culture camps. Our planned Foreign Exchange Camps will be music and culture education based with a strong charitable tie in. Under the Meteor 17 FOREIGN EXCHANGE business model, M17 owns and controls all the equity emanating from the show. This includes all rights to the shows assets ranging from TV proprietary content and distribution, DVD, soundtrack as well as all online commerce. All of these platforms serve as separate, non cross collateralized profit centers for the Company. M17 plans to build a long term and highly recognizable international brand around the Show, title song, website, label, and merchandising. M17 has every intention to license 2nd and 3rd broadcast window distribution rights to the Show in No America as well. The potential for a long term franchise is outstanding here.
